Where Do I Sign Up to Become a Member of HR.com?
Look at the top right of the screen and click on the green register button.

What is a Personal HR Space URL?
When you register with HR.com or when you update your profile, you can choose a name for your personal hr space url. It looks like this: www.hr.com/members/putyournamehere.

Do I have to be a member of HR.com to contribute articles to the site?
No, but if you want to have a proper bio show up onsite with your article and you would like to post your article or blog right away, we highly recommend that you become a member.

Login Issues

I Forgot My Password.
Just below the login box, you'll find the Forgot Password link. You will need to use the email address you used when you registered as a member to retrieve your password.

I Can't Login. It says my account is not activated.
When you first signed up on our site, you would have been sent a welcome email. That email contains an activation link. Sometimes this email is caught in your spam or junk folder so check there first. If all else fails, call us at 1-877-472-6648 or email us at info@hr.com.

I put in a wrong password and now I'm locked out.
If you guessed at your password up to three times, on the third attempt your profile will get locked. Try the forgot password link or email us at info@hr.com or call 1-877-472-6648.

I am getting a message saying my access might get locked. Why am I seeing this?
This happened when you were about to unsubscribe from our HR Promotions campaign which comes from our valued vendors. You can still unsubscribe if you wish.

My Premium Membership is about to expire. How do I renew it?
The Silver and Gold Memberships can both be renewed for another 365 days by mousing over our Memberships menu and selecting Renew with HR.com. You will receive a reminder email from us before your current membership ends.

Does HR.com have a Certification Program?
HR.com is proud to present its IHR Certification and Workshop Program. The Institute for Human Resources (IHR) provides certification and accreditation to industry professionals along particular HR verticals or domains. See our IHR Certification menu for more details.

Is there a cost to certification?
Yes. Although many courses and credits can be obtained for free, there is a cost of $399 per person to take the final exam (with discounts available to premium HR.com members).

HRCI and IHR Credits

Can I get credits for webcasts I attend on HR.com?
Yes, each one-hour webcast is submitted to qualify for HR Certification Institute recertification credits. The archive of the webcast also qualifies recertification credits.

My Profile

Under the Networking tab, it says “Visitors of my Profile”. What does this mean?
This shows you the names of the members who have visited your profile. This helps you know which members have similar interests and you can connect with them.

What is "Contacts of Contacts"?
This shows the number of contacts that any of your contacts have. You can see them by clicking on your own contacts and checking their Networking container.

What are my "Messages"?
These are private messages between you and other members. You can view sent messages, new messages and received messages.

What are "New Members"?
On our home page, there is a container which lists new members. These are the people who have recently joined our website.

What do I enter under "Wants and Haves"?
These are specific profile details that pertain to you. You can put in anything you wish but just know that others can search on these to find you.

What do I enter under "Network Contact Details"?
If you use Skype, MSN, or other messaging services, you can share them with fellow members here.

Do I have to signup to receive an HR.com newsletter?
You don’t have to but we certainly recommend that you do! Our community newsletters are jam packed with the most valuable content on HR.com.

How do I submit a blog or article and have it posted right away?
You must be a registered member of HR.com (signing up is free www.hr.com/en/memberships). Once logged in, look under our main menus for the Add a Blog Post link.

How do I edit, copy or delete my blog?
When you are viewing your blog, click on the edit or delete link under your blog to make any changes or to delete it.

What do the stars next to my blog title mean?
These are ratings. HR.com community members are encouraged to vote on each piece of content. This allows others in the community to quickly assess the value of content.

What is my “View Count”?
Your “View Count” is the number of times that your blog has been viewed on HR.com.

What does the number under “Comments” mean?
The number indicates the number of comments left by community members in response to your blog.

How will I know what my blog will look like on site?
Click on “Preview”.

What formatting options do I have in my blog?

What is the Buyers' Guide?
It's a listing of vendor companies who sell products and services to HR Professionals.

How do I add my company into the Buyers' Guide?
First check to see if it isn't already listed by using the Buyers' Guide search function. If it isn't there, email us at info@hr.com or call 1-877-472-6648 and we can add it for you.

Social Networking and Sharing

What are “Contacts”?
“Contacts” are the HR.com members you have connected with and allowed access to view your profile.

What happens when I send a request to someone asking to add them as a contact?
A message will be sent to their HR.com inbox letting them know that you would like to add them as a contact. They may choose to accept or decline. You will be notified of their response.

What happens when I agree to add someone as a contact?
They will now be able to view your profile and you will be able to view theirs. You will also be able to make notes on the person and send them private messages via HR.com.

What is “Notes on this Person”?
This function enables you to keep PRIVATE notes on an individual. They will never be able to view the notes that you have made on them.

What is “Add to Contacts”?
Use this button to send a request to an individual asking them to be added to your contact list.

What is “Report Abuse”?
If you feel that an individual is making hateful, disruptive or inappropriate comments or contributions, then we encourage you to report them by clicking on “Report Abuse”.

What does the “Introduce this Contact” button do?
This is an introduction function that allows you to introduce a contact connected with you to another contact that you are connected with.

What does “Send Message to This Contact” mean?
This allows you to send a private message to a particular contact. To send a message check the box next to the individual or individual’s names and click “Send Message to This Contact”.

What does “Remove” mean?
You can use this button to remove a contact from your contact list. A message will be sent to the person indicating that you have removed them from your list.

What happens when I click on “Accept Marked Request”?
The person who has requested to add you to their contact list will be notified that you have accepted their request. They will now be able to view your profile and you will be able to view theirs.

What happens when I click on “Decline Marked Request”?
The person who has requested to add you to their contact list will receive a message letting them know that you have declined their request. You will not be able to view their profile and they will not be able to view yours.

What happens when I “Cancel Marked Requests”?
If you have sent out a contact request and wish to cancel it, you can do so my clicking on the box next to the contact and then clicking on cancel marked request. The contact request will then be removed from the individual’s inbox.

What do I use the "Invite" feature for?
This tool allows you to invite your colleagues and friends in HR to join the HR.com community. Simply enter their name, their email address and a personal message telling them about what a fantastic resource HR.com is!

How do I create a new group?
To suggest a new group, click on the “Suggest a New Group” button. When you suggest a group, you automatically become the Group Manager. New groups need to be approved by HR.com. If approved, you will be notified.

What if I suggest a group that is already in existence?
HR.com will run a search to see if a similar group to the one you suggested already exists. If it does then we will notify you by email and cancel your request to start a new group.

Discussions or Forums

Where do I find discussions or forums?
HR.com has hundreds of on-going discussions. You'll find all of them in our Main Discussion page. Also, the most current topics appear on our home page and in our communities as well as our newsletters.

How Do I Participate in a Discussion?
Click on any of the discussions you find on our Main Discussion page, home page, communities or through our newsletters and click on the Answer link below the message.

What kinds of events can I add to the HR.com events listings?
This tool is for HR and business-related events only. Events that are not of value to the HR.com community will be removed.

Can I add an event that is happening in my local area?
Of course! If it is of interest to the HR community then we encourage you to let other members know. Simply fill out the form on the “Add Event” page to add your event.

What if someone has already added the same event?
We ask that you do a search of existing events before adding a new event.

Do I need to fill out all of the information on the “Add Event” form?
Ideally, yes. The more information you provide, the more likely that your HR.com community members will attend.

What if I only want my contacts to be able to view the event?
You can set the visibility of the event by clicking on “Only My Contacts” at the bottom of the form.

What if I want everyone in the community to be able to view the event?
You can set the visibility of the event by clicking on “Public” at the bottom of the form.

Who can register to attend a webcast?
Any HR.com member may attend any of our webcasts for free.

To find out what webcasts are coming up you can visit the Upcoming Webcasts page on our site. Click on the title of the webcast you are interested in and click Register

What do I need to do to attend a webcast?
Participants in the live webcast will need access to a computer connected to the Internet. HR.com highly recommends you test your computer in advance of the webcasts.

What is a wiki?
A wiki is an online tool that allows multiple users to edit and add to a single document or multiple documents.
